Great race, extremely hard marathon, well for me anyway. Not sure if timings are right, but dont care, just glad I finished it! Lol. Thanks to all the marshalls and organisers.

Dave Saunders, Leicester Coritanians, 24-May-2008

I don't appear on the list, My race number was 219 and My watch time was 4:12:25 ... great run by the way!

David Thompson, Billericay Striders, 12-May-2008

I had a great time apart from losing my IPod and thanks to everyone on the day. I would love to blame the timing but I think I really did run it in 1hr 54m. I keep saying to myself I won't be back when I still have 6 miles to go but I am determined to get a better time before moving up with the fools than run the full marathon, see you next year.

Duncan Anderson, Hole in my trainers club!, 09-May-2008

Generally an excellent event which I enjoyed very much.

I'll add my claim for a different time - just over 4:37, I believe (based on watch and camera timestamp).

Nigel Cornish, Sevenoaks AC, 09-May-2008

Great event, well marshalled & ample feed stations.

My finishing time is incorrect on the Results page. I took 4.36:56 (honestly!!)

Ivan Lyons, Brighton Hash, 09-May-2008

VERY WELL RUN EVENT. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE WHO WANTS A CHALLENGING 1/2 OR FULL MARATHON. BIG THANKS TO ALL THE MARSHALLS WHO KEEP YOU GOING. I'LL BE BACK!!!

Grant Patterson, Worthing Harriers, 07-May-2008

Very challenging.I would rate as harder than the snowdon marathon.Friendly marshalls and runners, would run it again.Thankyou

paul yuill, thanet roadrunners, 07-May-2008

2nd year running the half marathon and another good event. No complaints about the timings or marshalling. Thought it was all spot on.

Only thing I'd ask for is some more distance markers on the way round so you know just how much more agony/joy you have left!!!

John Barnes, , 07-May-2008

This was my fourth attempt at the race and each time the organisation and support has improved. I'm sure the timekeeping issues can be rectified in time for next year's event. I would echo the comments regarding signage for the last gate before the descent from Cissbury Ring to the finish - this is an absolute must.

Thanks to Mike and your team for putting on another great event.

Tom Glandfield, Seaford Striders, 06-May-2008

Really enjoyed the event and look forward to doing it again next year. I am happy with my recorded time but I would vouch for 223 who came in just behind me rather than the 25 places behind shown.

Mark Bennett, , 06-May-2008

Thoroughly enjoyed this event. Thank you to all involved. Thanks for the scenery and the weather! My time was recorded correctly and the whole thing was great fun.
See you next year hopefully.

Carol Ann Plater, Thame Runners, 06-May-2008

Great race like last year and I'll be back next year. The timings were a bit out as noted (I was around 3h22m rather than 3h16m and the guy behind was around 5 mins back) but hopfully this will be resolved in the final rankings. Highly recommended to anyone thinking about trail running.

Ian Sharman, Serpentine, 06-May-2008

Fantastic event, really well organised with friendly, helpful marshals. Great, great challenge! Thanks
My result time too was also around 15 mins over my actual time.
Hope to be back for more next year

Phil Nuttall, RAF AA, 06-May-2008

Great event and thanks to all the marshals involved. Unfortunately there does seem to be a problem with the times?
Thanks again and will see you all next year

Jeremy MacKeown, Fittleworth Flyers, 06-May-2008

Superb picturesque race which has the fun and friendly factor. Nice hills too. Thanks to all involved in organising it. Just wish I had had the stamina to run from mile 18 onwards rather than walk/run!

Geoff Hurrell, Paddock Wood AC, 06-May-2008

A great race but unfortunately my result is 13 minutes over my actual time!

Howard Nye, Fittleworth Flyers, 06-May-2008

Thanks very much to all the organisers, the marshalls, Raynet and the aid stations for putting on another great 3 Forts Challenge. Even though I didn't make it round (dropped out at 19 miles due to be being a bit tired and sore from the previous week's Three Peaks race) I still appreciated the care and effort that goes into putting this event on.

If the organisers want to add some extra value, then they should consider providing age catergories as part of the results service. Also if timings are an issue then perhaps an electronic checkpoint system such as Sportsident could be looked at; it works very well in fellraces and long distance challenges.

Raymond Hickman, Milton Keynes AC, 06-May-2008

You got my results wrong!! By 10 minutes and 30 seconds!! And not in the good way.

Richard Corkery, Serpentine, 06-May-2008

Loved the race and course - its only by putting yourself through the agony of running/walking the 27 miles you get to appreciate the beauty of this part of the world - see you in 2009 !!

Gareth R Davies, Croydon, 06-May-2008

Great race, many thanks for marshalls and all those involved.

Mark Braley, Serpentine, 06-May-2008

Sorry to hear the complaints - I thought the event was excellent, a real taste of local running as covered in Richard Askwith's great book Feet In The Clouds. Did the half - a good tough course - and finished in time to watch Tim Short stroll home. Is this lad for real? 2:55 for the full marathon? And he's unaffiliated. Keep an eye out for this lad.

I've posted a race report at http://www.runningcommentary.net/forum/showpost.php?p=13917&postcount=13

Any idea where the race photos will appear?
Cheers!

There is such a feel-good factor about this event that it seems a shame to have to complain about the results and the marshalling. They are valid comments though and need to be taken on board for next year. I collided with a van which was let into the car park at the same time as myself and another guy I was racing - the marshall just stood and watched! However, we survived for the cakes, etc. See you next year.

Brian Friend, Phoenix AC, 05-May-2008

Brillliant day, especially free cakes at the end ! Lovely route for half marathon - might try the full next year. Where are the club results though ?? Me and my club mates are desperate to know. Will be back for more next year. Many thanks.

Nuala Smyth, Arunners, 05-May-2008

My time was correct, the marshalls were friendly, the flapjacks were great, beautiful scenery a tough run and I'll probably be back. Thank you to all the organisers

Jenny Neal, New Eltham Joggers, 05-May-2008

A great challenge, well organised, signed and marshalled. Even the rain held off (although on the hills a shower would have been welcome!). Lovely scenery. My first half-marathon; i'll be back next year

Duncan Livingstone, Southwick Strollers, 05-May-2008

Brilliant fitness test as always, still need to do some more hill training, however! Please ensure the marshalling at Cissbury Ring is up to speed for future races. Thanks very much.

Pete Thompson, Brighton & Hove City A.C., 05-May-2008

Great race - thanks marshals and refreshments. See you next year.

Thanks

Colin Harley, Chichester runners, 05-May-2008

Thanks to all involved in putting on a great race yesterday. I ran the marathon, and the marshalling and direction arrows were superb, and especially the many drink stations with very helpful and cheerful attendants.

Unfortunately as mentioned above there appears to be errors with the provisional results. I finished in a time of 3:13:44 (give or take a few seconds) but given the time of 3:11:29. Hopefully the results can be corrected, possibly some finishing numbers were not recorded and therefore runners have been matched up with quicker finishing times.

Apart from the errors with the results which hopefully can be corrected, an excellent marathon event, over a very challenging course, with a great atmosphere throughout, including the excellent cakes at the finish!

Thanks

PS I agree with some comments above. Could you please add the age categories to the results.

Stuart Mills, Brighton and Hove AC, 05-May-2008

Great race .Tough course , ouch those hills!! Accurate course measurement Nice touch with the flap jacks and orange juice (much appreciated in the hot weather) .Friendly off road event .Thankyou

ruth saunders, lancing eagles, 05-May-2008

Very enjoyable event, though getting lost after the final control and having 4 or 5 runners, whom I had worked very hard to overtake over the last few miles, finish ahead of me was a bit of a blow.
I agree with John it would be good to see age groupings in the results, particularly as you were unable to give these prizes on the day.
Thanks for all the effort you obviously put in to organise the event, hope to see you next year.

Cedric Clemerson, Heathfield Road Runners, 05-May-2008

It would be nice to see the 'age' of runners in the results as I know there were age related prizes.

Apart from that minor detail, it was an excellent event, the course was delightful. I will certainly be recommending it to my fellow Hardley Runners for next year

John Simmonds, Hardley Runners, 05-May-2008

Please, please put a sign to direct runners through the gate leading to the final descent to the finish. Like last year we had to yell and call back some runners who were continuing on the track down to right.

, , 05-May-2008

My husband entered the marathon so I decided to enter as one of the 10 mile walkers but the marshalls were not sure where we had to go so ended up walking the half marathon course. Great day but appreciate the pain the runners must be in today.

Janet Taplin, , 05-May-2008

You seem to have lost me altogether! (half marathon number six hundred and something, time about 2.20)

Mercy Morris, , 05-May-2008

something very wrong with time keeping this year.

keith ayres, horsham joggers, 05-May-2008

Number 223 marathon... I finished approx 30 seconds and one runner behind no 238 and after crossing the line asked him his time; he said 'about 4:30' and indeed his time is recorded as 4:28:16. So how come I'm recorded as 4:39:29, eleven minutes and 25 places behind him! Also I'm recorded as finishing with the same time as another runner and yet there was no-one within 30 metres of me as I crossed the line! I thought the deal was, we pay 20, you provide marshals and results service that can be assumed to be accurate - obviously not!

chris mitton, none, 05-May-2008

A marshalling problem this year resulted in the first three runners in the Half Marathon having to run an additional half mile. This has caused a problem with the results but it was felt it would be better to issue the provisional results promptly as most runners knew their own time. Sorry if the positions show any errors. The additional runners entering on the day resulted in even greater funds for the RNLI.
Thanks for taking part.

Mike Airey, Race Director 3FC, 05-May-2008

Something gone wrong in the half marathon results I think - you have me down as 16th in 1.39.38 but my watch read 1.40.01 (17th place). I think you've missed someone out in allocating finish times to finishers together.
But great race in good conditions. Thanks

David Howarth, Worthing Harriers, 05-May-2008

Number 720...half marathon, not listed on the results sheet. Also my mate Franco della mura....have all results been collated?
Great Race...as usual, but man, did i go off too quick...my legs today!!!!
