How many people ran in the 2010 full marathon?
Leona, Worthing Striders, 06-Jul-2009
Thank you for tidying up the results since my last comment, it seems you have been doing a bit of sorting out since the initial errors. This does happen at other events as well occassionally, but not like Rotary to make mistakes ! Nice to see the effort put in to correct them though, a much tougher task than getting them right in the first place ... so thank you.
All in all a fantastic day (see my previous comment), everything else was like clockwork and the route was fantastic. Thanks again.

10/6/09 - Have just received a ribbon for my 1/2m finishers medal. May I offer thanks and say that it is much appreciated.
With luck I'll see you again next year - 'til then - good luck & thanks

It would appear I was given the trophy for 1st female vet in error. I feel it should go to its rightful owner so please advise.

This has been the best race so far this year for me. I thoroughly enjoyed a ver well organised event in a very beautiful location and appreciated the post race leg massage that was available.
This was my first sub 2 hr half at 1 hr 59 (the clock said) but I am extremely dissappointed that my name has been completely left out of the results so something strange there. I would phone and talk to the organisers but there seems to be no contact number.
Simon Burgan, , 17-May-2009
Great race, excellent course and fabulous cakes. I had no problems with the marshalling and my finish time of 1.32.06 was spot on... but i (647) appear twice on the result sheet.
See you next year
Simon Moore, East Grinstead AC, 12-May-2009
Good day, good course, good organisation, good cake ... but I (No 732) didn't appear on the results list either.
Ian Moss, Phoenix, 12-May-2009
I would like to balance the argument about people going off course in the marathon. i have never done the race before but took time to look at the race route in detail prior to start. i think the onus is on the individual to check. thanks for a great challenge, bring on Ironman.
No 87 (4h 2m)

Fryderyk Dahlke - that is my name, FRYERTF DAHCKF - the way my name appeared in half-marathon results. (no.752, 55th place). Could you change it, please? How can I prove to my children, that it is me?! ;)
Fryderyk Dahlke, , 11-May-2009
Great race (did the 1/2 Marathon) and top quality cake at the finish. More water stops would be necessary if it had been slightly warmer. Top training run even for preparation for flat races.
First time ever had to use St Johns Ambulance after falling over on a downhill stretch - thanks to them, too!
Arthur Rabatin, , 10-May-2009
The invisible harrier strikes again number 556 finished at two hrs four mins there are photo's at the finish and i received a medal over to you.

We're very aware of the issues with the Half Marathon results and are working to resolve these. We apologise for this and would appreciate you bearing with us.
Ian Haynes, Worthing Rotary Club, 08-May-2009
I was listed in the results for the half marathon yesterday ,7th May, (around 2hr 23m) but now I've been erased. What's the game?
Dominique Carabin, Coureurs Celestes, 08-May-2009
My first marathon must be mad but enjoyed it even the two marshals at 3 miles shouting they were my fellow club mates. Very friendly race even had breath left to chat at the top of Devils Dyke Perhaps next year you could do awards for older runners as there were quite a few over sixty
wendy whelan, arunners, 08-May-2009
I was also missed off the results, finished with Angela Hibbin at about 2.07.30. Please could you update me, as I have a massive blister to show but no results!
Thanks
Elizabeth Fairs, Worthing Harriers, 08-May-2009
I love this run but didn't enter as still recovering from London the week before so was marshalling at 3.6 miles with my buddy Nicola. I have seen all the comments re marshalling and we did get lots of questions about the distance / route etc. Coming from a local club I was happy to be able to put something back by marshalling but I just wish more local clubs would be more willing to marshall...it was great fun to see it from the other side so to speak. Well done all you runners getting up that crazy hill !! Sorry if I made you talk to me....
Nuala Smyth, Arunners, 08-May-2009
A great course and very friendly helpers, but the route signing was far from adequate. I went off-course 3 times (along with others) to run around 30 miles, and I know all of the leading runners also went off-course twice. There should be signing at every junction. Also it would be interesting to see all the usual veteran categories in the results.
Bryon Heywood, Burnham Joggers, 07-May-2009
I was given number 716 on the day, my results are not on the final table and they were not forwarded to my club.....i was approx 2hrs 6 in the half marathon....
Felicity paton, Tone Zone Runners, 07-May-2009
you seem to have made a mistake regarding my final time.. please amend.. thankyou
donna moule, , 07-May-2009
An excellent race had no problems with marshalling at all. Will definintely enter again in 2011 - London next year!
Steve Taplin, Fairlands Valley Spartans, 07-May-2009
I don't seem to be on the results table! Runner 653 and I should have been around the 2 hr mark I think. Is my time available?
Brilliantly organised as always, with plenty of supportive marshalls. Thanks.
Guy Musgrove (653), Un-affiliated, 07-May-2009
Me (race number 513) and my club colleague, Lynn Venus, (both over 50 ladies) appear to have been missed off the half marathon results. We finished in 2.12 in-between the two ladies finishing in 150th & 151st positions. Could you check and amend the results for us please.
Anne Belchambers, Worthing & District Harriers, 06-May-2009
David Waterman, number 759, finishing 85th in a time of 1:55:22 in the half marathon 2009- Club should read 'Strathaven Striders.'
.......can I have a prize for being from the most northerly club?????
David Waterman, Strathaven Striders, 06-May-2009
A lovely scenic route over the South Downs and despite being new to the event and the area we didn't have any navigational problems.
The race itself was great but I can't resist mentioning the ladies loo - which was just short of a quarter mile (I measured it on my GPS!) away. Really not what you need with pre race nerves and 27 miles to run.
I think it's a good idea that the Vet categories are 50 plus, but it says they're 40 plus on the entry details and website.
Lin Lascelles, Yeovil Town Road Running Club, 06-May-2009
Excellent event this year! Great value for money I'd say. Extra mile markers around the 1/2 marathon route were much appreciated and this should have helped any who were unsure. The extra 'jelly baby' stop was also welcomed!!! Well run and a nice day for it - look forward to next year!
John Barnes, N/A, 06-May-2009
The Jaffa cakes were most welcome this year! An excellent but tough route on the scenic south downs. Marshalling was good but I had to call back a couple of runners who went the wrong way on the return from Devils Dyke where the route leaves the tarmac road and goes through the bridle gate. You can't assume runners will remember the way they came! A simple arrow would have done the trick.
There were many more mountain bikers this year but no real problems.
Would it be possible to have some basic first aid kit at all the marshal points? For the first time ever I was in need of some Vaseline for chaffing but none was available (apparently I wasn't the only one to ask). Apologies to the Lady Mayor for subjecting her to my naked torso!
Thank you for an excellent event and I look forward to next year.
Peter Amos, Orpington Road Runners, 06-May-2009
I'm not really much of a runner, so perhaps I'm not picky enough, but I thought this was a great, friendly, fun event. The marshalling and drinks stations seemed thorough, friendly and well organised. Credit to the Rotary members and Scouts who cheered and encouraged for hours.
As someone who is used to running off-road, I thought the 'roughly right' mile markers and 'good enough' signage were frankly luxurious, and my entry fee seemed well spent.
This was my first marathon, and I think I made a lucky choice. See you next year!
Mark Ackroyd, , 06-May-2009
Good Run over all, but why so many problems with final times.
This seems to happen year after year.
Marshalling is a bit hit and miss,no one seems to know how far there is left to run,i asked three times and no one could tell me.
At 20 for entry these things need to be put right.
COME ON MIKE!!
Daren Elliott, Phoenix AC, 06-May-2009
Great event, my first 1/2 marathon for many years. There seem to be many duplicated names and positions in the results so not sure if mine is accurate.
Keith Bolton, Worthing Striders, 06-May-2009
I ran the half marathon ( 577) and crossed the line at the same time ,
1:59:29, as 2 other runners but my name has been left off the list.It should be with 95,96 and 97. Feel a little disappointed that l've been forgotten along with the other chap after such a tough run and doing it in a very respectable time!!!! Louise Forrest.
Louise Forrest, , 06-May-2009
Expensive half marathon at 20 if you have to enter on the day with no discount for affiliated runners?
Marshalling? not sure if that worked as the clear leader in the half marathon (from Holland) ran off down the wrong track towards Cissbury missing the Chanctonbury loop?
I came in third and I believe I was first vet 40 but it appears that only vet 50's qualified for a trophy?
I got a nice piece of cake for my efforts but then so did everbody else!
John McGRATH, Worthing Striders, 06-May-2009
Comments made since the Marathon on Sunday 3rd May have unfortunately been deleted in error. Sincere apologies for this.
