A tough but fabulous event. This was the hardest marathon that I have ever run and admitedly struggled on the day, but I would recommend it to any marathon runners. Stunning scenery, excellent and very friendly marshals and extremely well organised, thank you. I will definately be back another year.

Great race and well organised - you even managed to supply some good weather. Enjoyed the post race flapjacks, my compliments to those who made them. Please can you add my club name to my result.

David Howarth , Worthing Harriers , 04-May-2011

Sincere apologies to Rebecca - see comment dated May 1st - and any other local residents who were inconvenienced by our event on Sunday May 1st. The last thing we wish to do is alienate the people who live around our base. We would rather you all came along and joined the the celebration of the achievements of all of our participants in this annual event which now has a strong loyal following.

Allen Green, Three Forts Committee, 03-May-2011

A lovely day out - weather a BIG improvement on last year. Marshalls were all wonderful - friendly and supportive. Could I also ask that my club be added to the results? Ta

Great event. Good marshalling and water / food stops at about the right places.

Not sure why most of the toilets were restricted to ladies use only.

If you are updating the results could you entery my club name?

Anthony Frankland, Horsham Joggers, 03-May-2011

My 3rd time at this race and I think the most smoothly run. Seems like everyone followed the whole course correctly this year! My slowest time so far at 4:11 but enjoyed it nonetheless. Love the sea monster/alien medals this year - what's the story? :

Results show me (bib 24)running for water aid charity and should be Hardley runners.
Nice course,a little arduous underfoot due to the dry spell in places, weather a big improvement on last years, plenty of aid stations, fruit cake and flapjacks were just what was needed. All the marshals seemed helpful and friendly.

Paul Blundell, Hardley runners, 03-May-2011

Our 3 teams simply loved the event .. Friendly , well organised and such great fun to do it as a Relay team... we had such a laugh and posted some fab times too ... can we come again next year and bring more teams with us ?!!

JULIA GLEESON, FIT 4 - WORTHING LEISURE, 02-May-2011

Great race, Really enjoyed it. Thanks to marshals and organisers.

Richard Chamberlain, , 02-May-2011

As a tail-ender on the Marathon, I can't thank the marshals for their encourgement, I really struggled, but I got there in the end. The views up on the top were awesome. Well done a such a friendly event.

My first 3 forts marathon. I have run 8 road marathons and chuckled when reading the comment of Steve Low about feeling he had done halfway at the 8 mile mark - I felt exactly the same! Really enjoyed it; the scenery was fantastic and the marshals/aids stations were brilliant. Really liked being personally given my medal, my hand shaken and being asked how I had found the race - a really nice touch. Hope to run again next year.

Sophie Ravenscroft, , 02-May-2011

My third year on the marathon and its not getting any easier; as windy as last year, but swapped rain for sun :) As a 'back of the pack' runner, thanks to all the cheery marshals and fellow runners for their support. One correction to my result (bib #81), while I aspire to be a member of the 100 Marathon Club, I'm some way off reaching that landmark! My club is the local Goring Road Runners.

Bryan Darney, Goring Road Runners, 02-May-2011

I appear to have had a transfer to South London Harriers according to the results! Other than that, many thanks to all the marshals and other helpers for a great day!

Peter Alford, Tring Running Club, 02-May-2011

A thoroughly enjoyable race yet again.
My name does not appear in the results, you have the wrong name & club agaainst my number, 262.
A contact email on the website would be useful addition.

Graham Tucker, Reigate Priory AC, 02-May-2011

Very well done Rotary; the time and effort put in by your members and all the supporting organisations, are very much appreciated. I sincerely hope that the resulting funds raised made it all worthwhile. Keep the event going - apart from any other benefits, the run is a great advert for the glorious English countryside in Spring and our new South Downs National Park!

Fenwick Tunley, Woodstock Harriers AC, 02-May-2011

Absolutley brilliant! We did the 1/2, tough course, my friend reckoned it was harder than the London marathon he did last year. Thisshould not put you off the weather was perfect, and the vista alone is worth the hills.
Very well organised, and big thanks to the marshalles who put the time in yesterday.
Will look to come back in 2012. Loved it?

mick Hrabe, Dartford White Oak Tri, 02-May-2011

Fantasticaly organised event, I have only run 1 other marathon (Road) 3 forts was extremely tough but well worth the effort. I;ll be back..

Cameron Cumming, Winchester and District athletics club, 02-May-2011

Fantastic race, really enjoyed the half marathon route and scenery. I do have a question mark over my official timing, I finished in 2 hours 16 (I used a Garmin) however the race time is showing me taking 2 hours 37.

Hopefully be back next year

simon rusbridge, , 02-May-2011

Whilst I have run the half three times, this was my first attempt at the 27 miles. As always great support on the route from marshals and drinks stations so my thanks to them. Tough race, but I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it. Finally thanks to all the support and coaching from Fit 4 staff, without them, I probably would never had completed it.

Chris Cannon, Worthing Resident, 02-May-2011

An excellent event with a fantastic atmosphere. Many thanks to all the supportive marshals and organisers, as always the real unsung heroes of the day.

Gary Smitherman, , 02-May-2011

Fantastic race, beautiful scenery and great marshalling. The timing is not right though as my time is down as being 15 minutes later than I actually finished, think the marathoners' clock was used to record some of the half marathoners' time.

Clare Bartlett, , 02-May-2011

Query re half results, 2.30 results are mixed in with the 2.20-2.29 ? will this be rectified? Apart from that, another well organised and enjoyable event. Well Done.

karen coleman, local resident & runner, 02-May-2011

Superbly organised and incredibly supportive and friendly marshalls all way round. Thank you.

It's a tough one, but the the route and views make it all worth while.

Will be back.

Adrian Burt, , 02-May-2011

This was my 1st Three Forts marathon so I didn't know what to expect - I thought I was getting towards half-way when I passed an 8 mile marker! All the marshals on the course were fantastic so many thanks to them. The course was well marked apart from a left/right choice at about 23 miles, shortly before the last checkpoint. I would have gone left but fortunately I'd just passed a photographer who said to take the next right. I'll be back next year for another go if I've recovered by then.

Steve Low, Blackwater Valley Runners, 02-May-2011

Hi,

I ran the beautiful half yesterday, although it's not a race where I feel s chip is needed, my time is 15mins out, as it's the click for the marathon results not the half which was 15mins later! I know the first 8 are 'real' after speaking with Jand and Richard Fanning also from Serpentine. I'm hoping ascrgese are provisional they will be ammended!
Many thanks in advance, Louisa Ruderman.

Louisa Ruderman, Serpentine, 02-May-2011

I'd just like to thank everyone for the fantastic organisation.

Jane Gant, , 01-May-2011

I heard about this from a friend of a friend and thought - I'll give that a go. Well having just done my second half marathon on this challenge 1st May 2011. it was very hard, but the weather was fantastic, with the best views the south has to offer. I must say it was very well run and very friendly, plently of water stations - much needed! I enjoyed a fair few chats around the course and at the end. Would recommend this 'toughie' as reaching the end was a rich reward - but its not for a PB!

Neil Clelland, N/A, 01-May-2011

In future it would be nice if local residents could be warned this was happening: it wouldn't take much to pop a note through the door of residents to let them know you intend to park cars on our green space(so dogs can't be walked there) and that you intend to create a lot of traffic & people noise before 8am on a Sunday morning. Surely that's standard if you're experienced event organisers?

Rebecca, Local Resident, Hill Barn Lane, 01-May-2011

It is our intention to upgrade to chip timing for the Olympic year of 2012.
